Layout, Inc. was formed with the specific intention of providing NY and NJ construction firms with surveying services on contracts requiring project labor agreements. Today, Layout has existing agreements with Locals 825 (NJ & NY) and 15D (NYC). Most recently, Layout has added the ability to perform subsurface utility markouts to its resume of services.

Layout is certified by the NJ Commerce and Economic Growth Commission as an SBE, Category 5 and, in addition to being prequalified with numerous individual construction companies throughout New York and New Jersey, is also prequalified with the NJ Turnpike Authority, NJ Department of the Treasury, Division of Property Management and Construction and the NJ Schools Development Authority. New prequalifications are being added to Layout’s resume daily. Layout is authorized to do business in both NJ and NY.

Layout, Inc. prides itself on its tradition of using state-of-the-art equipment to obtain the most precise level of results for its clients. Layout’s equipment inventory includes ever-increasing numbers of robotic total stations enabling the field personnel to work accurately and efficiently with one or two person crews. Reflectorless total stations are used when locations are difficult, i.e., instances of overhead utilities and other clearance level issues. Additionally, numerous global positioning systems (GPS) receivers and total stations are just a few more of Layout’s extensive and sophisticated equipment line.

Layout’s most recent equipment line additions include the Leica ZNL Optical Plummet. This instrument allows surveyors to maintain horizontal accuracy in vertical planes for high-rise buildings, vertical shaft surveys, smoke stacks, and deformation surveys. Also added were the UtilityScan 5103 and Pipehorn 800 which are the most accurate subsurface utility mapping systems available for non-destructive location of all subsurface utilities.
Layout, Inc. currently has a staff that includes six licensed land surveyors, more than 15 field crews and several project managers and technicians. This staff size, coupled with Layout’s centralized location, allows Layout to pride itself with a 24-48 hour response time.
